BATANG Gilas finally got a win in their build-up for the 2017 Seaba Under-16 Championship as it opened its stint in the Milcu Sports Basketball Summer Showcase with a 75-72 win over Lyceum on Saturday at the Lyceum gym.
Terrence Fortea of National University had 18 points and four assists for the Batang Gilas Under-16, who is playing in the tournament in the 25-under division.
Mclaude Guadana had 12 points, while Kai Sotto had nine points and three blocks for Batang Gilas, who claimed their first victory in their tune-up games for the 2017 Seaba Championship, a qualifier for the Fiba Asia Under-16 Championship.
The victory was the first for Batang Gilas since engaging in tune-up matches between college teams in preparation for the Seaba Championship the country will host in May.
Prior to the win, Batang Gilas lost to San Beda twice, National University, and Lyceum. The Philippine youth squad was also defeated by Ateneo in its first game in the Fr. Martin Cup.
