THE superb plays of LA Teonorio and Arwind Santos in the PBA Governors Cup factored in their inclusion in the new training pool of Team Pilipinas for the next window of the FIBA World Cup qualifiers.
Coach Yeng Guiao admitted the performance of the two veterans were among the considerations taken in for Teonorio and Santos to be listed in the 20-man pool submitted and eventually approved by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) and the PBA Board on Wednesday.
"They've just been playing well the past few games," said Guiao of the surpise inclusion of the two players.
"LA has played with Gilas before so we'd like to see LA in practice and how he blends with the team. The same thing with Arwind."
Tenorio last played for Gilas during the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain, while Santos suited up for Guiao when he handled the Powerade-Philippine team that saw action in the 2009 FIBA Asia Men's Championship in Tianjin, China.
The two are the new faces named by Guiao in the pool along with amateur standouts Ricci Rivero and Kai Sotto.
Left out for this fifth window are Terrence Romeo, Allein Maliksi, Raymund Almazan, Asi Taulava, and naturalized player Andray Blatche.
