ANTHONY Davis is focusing on preparations with his new team Los Angeles Lakers and is pulling out of the USA national men's basketball pool for the Fiba World Cup, according to reports.
Acquired by the Lakers in a trade sending Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart and three first-round draft picks to the New Orleans Pelicans, Davis was earlier listed in a 20-man pool for the USA.
The players will assemble in Las Vegas before being trimmed to the final 12.
Davis, part of the gold medal winning 2012 London Olympics team, is reportedly still interested in rejoining Team USA for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Lakers star LeBron James had also a few months ago pulled out of Team USA's pool.
