ANDRAY Blatche was quick to take full responsibility on the pounding Gilas Pilipinas suffered at the hands of Italy during the opener of the FIBA World Cup in Foshan, China.
The 33-year-old naturalized player said the 62-108 loss dealt by the Azurri to the Filipinos on Saturday should be on him.
Blatche took to twitter in expressing his frustration at the way he played, especially with no less than President Duterte among the Filipino crowd in the audience inside the GBA Sports and Recreation Arena.

“I take responsibility in that game. No energy or puso,” tweeted Blatche a few hours after the blowout that more or less, dampened whatever hopes of the team of advancing to the next round.
The former NBA player finished with a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds, but committed nine of Gilas Pilipinas’ total of 23 turnovers. He had half of the team’s eight turnovers in the first quarter when the Azurri raced to a 37-8 lead.

“That’s on me. No excuses. I owe better to all of you,” added Blatche.
Gilas Pilipinas plays Serbia next on Monday before capping its Pool D stint by facing Angola on Wednesday.
