CHRISTIAN Standhardinger and Stanley Pringle will still be considered for the national team even as Team Pilipinas recalled Andray Blatche for the final window of the Fiba Basketball World Cup Asian qualifiers.
Due to Fiba rules that only allow teams to have one naturalized player, Standhardinger and Pringle could lose their spots for the coming window of the Asian qualification with the entry of Blatche, who has been the team’s naturalized player since 2014.
But Guiao is still considering including the two players in the pool.
“That is a most likely scenario,” said Guiao when asked if Standhardinger and Pringle will not be included in the pool. “But we still want them there. Just in case.
In the previous windows, Standhardinger and Pringle took turns playing as naturalized players of Team Pilipinas.
Following losses Team Pilipinas home matches against Kazakhstan and Iran, Blatche is set for a return to the national pool.
The Philippines faces Qatar on February 21 and Kazakhstan on February 24.
“If anything happens, they will still be ready,” said Guiao, referring to Standhardinger and Pringle.
