LUCENA – Andray Blatche finally broke his silence and declared his readiness to suit up anew for Gilas Pilipinas in the coming Southeast Asia Basketball Association (Seaba) Championship.
The 30-year-old naturalized player made the announcement in his Twittter account @drayblatche on Friday.
“Mga Kababayan! I am so excited to be back and win for my fellow Pinoys,” said Blatche as he spoke about the May 12-18 campaign that serves as qualifier for the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup in Beirut, Lebanon.
“Please come and see us all play at Seaba. Laban! Puso!”
Gilas team manager Butch Antonio said he's looking to have Blatche in town either Monday or Tuesday, giving the 6-foot-11 NBA veteran enough time to jell with the other 11 players in the Gilas team its daily grind after the All-Star break.
Blatche last played for the national team during the Olympic Qualifying Tournament held in Manila last July.
He is coming fresh from leading the Xinjiang Flying Tigers to their first ever Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) championship following a four-game sweep of the Guangdong Southern Tigers in the finals.
