ANDRAY Blatche is ready to suit up for Gilas Pilipinas in next month's Southeast Asia Basketball Association (Seaba) championship at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Gilas team manager Butch Antonio disclosed the 6-foot-10 naturalized player has already committed to play anew for the national team in the May 12-18 qualifier for the Fiba Asia Cup in Beirut this August.
"We've come to agreement already," said Antonio after Gilas wrapped up its regular night practice on Monday at the Meralco gym.
"More concrete na," he added. "We're fixing (the schedule for him) to come over. Dates na lang ang pinag-uusapan."
Asked if the agreement is for the SEABA tournament, Antonio curtly replied, "Yes, SEABA.
Antonio said the team is looking for a late April arrival for the former NBA player.
Blatche is fresh from leading the Xinjiang Flying Tigers to the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) championship after completing a four-game sweep of the Guangdong Southern Tigers in the finals.
Antonio said the 30-year-old Blatche is currently enjoying his vacation in the U.S.
“Give him a break, he deserves it,” added the long-time Gilas official. “Champion, e.”
Coming off the CBA championship, Antonio nonetheless expects Blatche to be in good shape once he arrives here.
