ANDRAY Blatche is set to attend his first Gilas Pilipinas practice on Monday after arriving in the country this weekend.
Blatche was welcomed by Gilas team manager Gabby Cui upon arrival on Saturday and then had lunch with coach Yeng Guiao and Special Assistant to Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) president Ryan Gregorio.
Cui said the naturalized Filipino player looked very much in shape but the jury on his condition will be out by Monday when he practices with the national team at the Meralco gym.
Nonetheless, SBP president Al Panlilio welcomed Blatche's early arrival here for Gilas Pilipinas' preparation for the coming FIBA World Cup in China.
"It is a great development that he is here early to get reacquainted with his teammates and coaches as we get ourselves ready for the FIBA World Cup in China," said Panlilio.
"We are excited to see a full Gilas Pilipinas roster who will be ready to fight for flag and country."
