BOCAUE — Team USA stunned Russia, 21-13 in their top-of-the-table clash in the 2018 Fiba 3x3 World Cup to top Pool C in the women’s tournament Monday at Philippine Arena.

Sabrina Ionescu poured in 11 points to help the Americans shock the defending champions and remain unbeaten in the group at 4-0. Erin Boley and Otiona Gildon both had four for the USA team, which is comprised of players from the University of Oregon.

Despite the defeat, the Russians will still move on to the quarterfinals with their 3-1 card.

Czech Republic also moved on to the quarterfinals as the top seed with a 21-20 win over Italy in their Pool A clash.

Rae Lin D’Alie made a nice pass to Giulla Rulli as the Italians took a slim 20-19 lead in the last two minutes, but D’Alie’s foul on Romana Stehlikova led to two foul shots for the victory.

That conquest negated the Czech’s shock loss to Malaysia, 22-18, as they moved on to the next round in a collision course against Russia.

Italy, meanwhile, will face the US in the final eight.
