CLARE Castro will join forces with Afril Bernardino, Jack Animam, and Janine Pontejos as they carry the Philippine flag in the 2019 Fiba 3x3 Asia Cup from May 23 to 26 in Changsha, China.
Castro, the 6-foot-4 center of the FEU Lady Tamaraws, will make her debut in the Gilas Pilipinas Women's 3x3 squad.
Coach Patrick Aquino will have his hands full as the Filipinas seek to top Group A of the qualifiers when they face Chinese Taipei, Vanuatu, and Samoa.
If Gilas Women's 3x3 do reign in the pool, awaiting them in the next round are Japan and New Zealand in Group C, with the top two teams progressing to the knockout playoffs.
Castro is replacing Gemma Miranda from 2018 Fiba 3x3 World Cup team which finished 17th out of 20 squads last June at Philippine Arena.
Pontejos gave the country a consolation in the event, winning the gold medal in the Shootout.
