CEBU — Far Eastern University beat Southwestern University, 84-71, to win the Mayor Elanito Pena Invitational on Tuesday at the Minglanilla Sports Complex.
Mike Tolomia led the Tamaraws with 18 points, while Mac Belo and Alejandrino Inigo each added 11 markers as FEU topped a Cebu mini-tournament for the second straight year. Last year they won the Mayor Mike Rama Collegiate Invitational Cup with a three-game sweep of SWU, the University of the Visayas and the Mapua Cardinals.
Former University of Cebu wingman Francis Tamsi chipped in 10 for FEU.
The Cobras missed the services of rookie Filipino-American guard Jasper Parker, who was elbowed in the face in their game against the University of San Carlos last Monday and was sidelined as a precaution. SWU’s Cameroonian import Landry Sanjo also sat out part of the fourth period because of an abdominal cramp.
Adams Mohammed paced the SWU side with 19, while Sanjo contributed 14 points. Daryl Goloran and Anton Pardo had 13 and 11 points, respectively.
