FAR Eastern University defeated Letran, 68-64, on Saturday at the start of the Smart City Hoops Summer Classic at the Greenhills West indoor court.
Hubert Cani had 15 points on 6 of 8 shooting, while Richard Escoto had 11 points for Tamaraws.
“Si Hubert took charge for us sa offense, while si Richard nag-take charge naman sa defense. Lahat naman are capable of stepping up. Hubert stepped up and the others recognized that that is why they were giving him the ball,” said FEU coach Olsen Racela.
Bonbon Batiller had 14 points, while Jerrick Balanza added 11 points for the Knights.
In the other game, University of the Philippines defeated Lyceum, 88-68.
Bright Akhuetie had 18 points and 15 rebounds, while Paul Desiderio had 17 points.
Kim Cinco and Casper Pericas had 11 points each, while Renzo Navarro debuted for LPU, scoring 10 points.
