JERICHO Cruz exploded for 37 big points as Adamson dethroned San Sebastian, 88-79, and moved a win away from earning a berth in the Philippine Collegiate Champions League Final Four Sunday at The Arena in San Juan.

Cruz scored a dagger-trey to spark eight unanswered points by the Falcons for an 82-71 lead entering the homestretch of the game.

Before that 8-0 Adamson run, the Stags threatened for the last time at 71-74 on a Michael Miranda under goal stab with 4:27 to go.

Cruz highlighted his scoring exploit by nailing four three-point shots on top seven rebounds, four assists, and a steal.

“Very consistent si Jericho sa shooting. Sana magtuluy-tuloy,” said Adamson coach Leo Austria of his prized gunner.

Later in the day, University of Santo Tomas escaped past Letran, 78-73, to arrange a duel with Adamson for a berth in the semis.

The Falcons and Tigers square off Monday at 4 p.m.

San Sebastian is the second straight collegiate power whom the Falcons upset after De La Salle Green Archers.

“After namin manalo sa Mapua, tapos sa JRU, at na-upset namin ‘yung La Salle, doon kami nagka-kumpyansa,” said Austria.

“It’s just up to them (players) how to take advantage of it.”

Three other players finished in double figures for Adamson as Rodney Brondial chipped in 20 points, Roider Cabrera had 13, and Ryan Monteclaro with 10.

Ronald Pascual came away with 26 markers to show the way for San Sebastian, while Ian Sangalang and Jovit dela Cruz had 16, respectively.
