ETHAN Alvano kicked off Wonju DB Promy’s title-retention bid on a high in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) season.
Wonju escaped Seoul Samsung Thunders, 88-83, at Wonju Sports Complex on Saturday, with the Fil-Am guard and reigning MVP unloading 29 points built on four treys, as well as eight assists, two steals, and one rebound.
Tamayo off to a flyer
Justin Gutang had four points, six assists, one rebound, one steal, and one block in his Seoul debut. He also had six points, six boards, and two assists in the Thunders’ 72-63 defeat to Suwon KT SonicBoom at Suwon KT Arena on Sunday as they dropped to 0-2 for the campaign.
Also victorious in his first game in Korea was Carl Tamayo, who delivered eight points, seven rebounds, two steals, one assist, and one block in Changwon LG Sakers’ 70-67 win over Daegu KOGAS Pegasus at Changwon Gymnasium on Saturday.

SJ Belangel erupted for 20 points on five triples, three assists, and two rebounds in the losing effort.
The Gomez de Liano brothers also faced off for the first time on Sunday, although both went scoreless and played spot minutes in Seoul SK Knights’ 95-71 rout of Anyang Jung Kwan Jang Red Boosters at Jamsil Student Gymnasium.
Juan did grab two rebounds and dished out two assists in three minutes of play, while Javi claimed a rebound in nine minutes of action.
Migs Oczon also went scoreless in four minutes of play for Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus in their 86-66 blowout loss at home to Goyang Sono Skygunners at Ulsan Dongcheon Gymnasium.
Calvin Epistola was not fielded in Busan KCC Egis’ opener against Suwon KT SonicBoom, 77-72, at Busan Sajik Gymnasium on Saturday.
