COLLEGE of St. Benilde overcame Letran in overtime, 89-88, on Friday in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup at the San Juan Arena.
Edward Dixon had a game-high 21 points, nine rebounds and four assists for the Blazers.
Justin Gutang contributed 13 markers, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals as CSB notched its sixth win in seven games.
John Calvo paced Letran with 17 points and six rebounds.
Bong Quinto, who sank a trey with 12.8 seconds to tie the game at 75 to force overtime, finished with a double-double of 16 markers and 10 rebounds.
Letran slipped to 4-3.
“It’s more of who really wanted it more. It was a see-saw battle starting the last three to four minutes of the regular period,” said St. Benilde coach TY Tang.
“We wanna start winning games after winning games. Hindi kami pwedeng win one, lose one. Right now, we were able to achieve what we wanted at the start of this tournament,” he added.
“Matira matibay nalang sa dulo and it’s good that we were able to sustain that.”
