DONDON Hontiveros is trusting the process as he sees continued improvement in the Cebu Max4 Birada in the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3 President's Cup.
"Tulad ng sinasabi ko sa kanila, every leg is always an experience for them to get better. Para sa akin, ito yung exposure na kailangan nila para ipakita yung skills and talent na meron sila," he said.
Hontiveros has assembled Cebuano collegiate stars from Cesafi MVP Rey Suerte to stalwarts like Garciano Puerto Jr., Fletcher Galvez, Nichole Ubalde and Red Cachuela.
Despite the Birada failing to progress to the semifinals in the first three legs, Hontiveros remains proud with how his boys have held themselves, showing more grit week after week.
"I've always been telling them na pag pinakita mo lahat, binigay mo lahat, as a coach and a manager, wala ka nang hihingin pang iba. I'm in here for them to grow and improve pa, and hopefully, makilala pa sila dahil dito," said the PBA great.
Cebu Max4 has been in the thick of things in the 12-team league.
"After the first three legs, nasa middle lang kami. Pero in the remaining legs, sinasabi namin sa kanila na they have to get these much points para mas maganda na ang ranking natin for the final leg," he said.
Hontiveros is confident the team will find their groove and make it to the Chooks-to-Go Super Quest set in April.
"We still have a chance. But it's up to them kung ano ang magiging response nila for the next legs," he said.
