DOMINICK Fajardo is focusing on his stint with Bulacan State University even as PBA D-League teams have expressed interest in getting his services.
The MVP of the Universities and Colleges Basketball League, Fajardo was invited to attend Racal Motors practices during the UCBL season while others teams were also said to have expressed interest, but he declined.
He made his mark in the UCBL with a record 43 points in a game although the Gold Gears fell short of the Final Four of the newest collegiate basketball tournament in the country.
“Overwhelmed ako,” said Fajardo, when told about the interest of PBA D-League teams.
“Mas go hard pa ako sa practice. ‘Yung ginagawa ko, maganda ang kalabasan.”
Fajardo is pleased to be playing in a league that has television coverage.
“Sobrang laking exposure para sa amin. Ang liga lang namin, SCUAA sa Region 3 at UCLAA. Malaking exposure para sa university namin,” said the 6-foot wingman.
In his record performance, Fajardo went 19 for 26 from the field for the Gold Gears.
BulSU’s effort last season will only fuel his drive to help his team be a contender in major collegiate leagues.
“Hindi ko alam ‘yun [record holder in the UCBL] basta ako, naglalaro lang ako. Hindi ko na binibilang ‘yung points ko. Ang goal ko, manalo para angat kami lagi,” said Fajardo.
