DE La Salle beat France's Universite de Lyon, 93-74, on Sunday to rule the 2017 BLIA Cup University Basketball Tournament in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

The Green Archers completed their five-game romp of the international collegiate tournament forming part of the Green Archers' preparation for Season 80 of the UAAP where they are seeking a repeat.

Ben Mbala led the way for the Green Archers but also got support from Aljun Melecio and Ricci Rivero in the championship match.

A slam by Mbala from a pass by Rivero put the Green Archers ahead, 42-27, in the second quarter, breaking wide open a game that was close, 25-21, at the close of the first.

After Lyon cut the deficit to nine points in the second half, the Green Archers stepped on the gas late in the fourth when Melecio buried a long triple to put the game away, 88-72.

La Salle sealed a berth in the finals after winning their first three games before beating Tsinghua University on Saturday.
