WHILE Ben Mbala has been dominating all the talk about La Salle, another big man has been silently making marked improvements in his game during the preseason.
It was finally in full display on Friday.
Fil-Am Abu Tratter took a share of the spotlight with his impressive outing in La Salle's semifinal encounter against Ateneo in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup. The La Salle forward had 14 points, several of those coming in the fourth quarter, and eight rebounds to lead the Green Archers to a 92-77 win over the Blue Eagles.
Tratter played well alongside Mbala, who had his usual double-double numbers of 16 points and 17 rebounds as the Green Archers moved into the championship game against Arellano on Sunday.
La Salle coach Aldin Ayo credited Tratter’s coachable attitude for the big man's improvement.
“That guy, maganda ang attitude. Naka-focus sa pinapagawa ni coach Glenn. Para talagang lahat ng sinasabi namin, na-absorb ng bata,” said Ayo, who also gave credit to assistant coaches Glenn Capacio and Siot Tanquincen for the exceptional work on the La Salle bigs.
“You have to credit coach Glenn and coach Siot kasi sila nagtatrabaho sa bigs. Tinutukan talaga nila si Abu,” Ayo added.
