JR Bauzon scored 20 points, including two clutch free throws as Diliman College streaked to its third win with a 72-66 win over Olivarez College Monday in the PG Flex Linoleum-UCBL at the Olivarez College gym in Parañaque City.
The vastly improving 6-foot-4 forward also had 10 in another solid all-around performance in just 27 minutes of action for the Blue Dragons who are bidding to become the first back-to-back champions of the league now on its fourth season.
The Sea Lions slipped to 1-2 despite the 32-point explosion of John Lester Maurillo.
Not to be left out was University of Batangas which also nailed its third straight win by crushing National College of Business and Arts, 107-83, thanks to a deadly third quarter attack that saw the Brahmans outscore the Wildcats, 30-12.
Seven UB players scored in double figures with Melvin Ricaña and Cameroonian center Kenne Yemeli scoring 20 points each.
Meantime, Philippine Christian University-Dasmariñas finally barged into the win column by trouncing Technological Institute of the Philippines, 90-69, in the first game.
Sophomore Sandee Diez came off the bench to produce 15 points, seven boards and two assists while the 6-foot-8 Zahul Yousseff of Ivory Coast tallied 14 points and 12 rebounds as the Dolphins snapped a two-game losing run in the eight-team tournament.
Carl Jasper Morillo added 12 points off the bench while starters Kenneth Cristobal, Keith Peralta and Congolese 6-foot-6 Lucien Mulamba all posted 10 points each.
The Engineers made only two of 20 tries from the 3-point zone that underscored their anemic shooting, finishing with 23-of-68 shooting from the field. The Dolphins also outrebounded them 52-41 and had more assists, 23-14 and steals, 10-7.
