DILIMAN College hopes to get back on the winning track when it takes on struggling Bulacan State University in the Universities and Colleges Basketball League (UCBL) Season 2 at Olivarez College gym in Sucat, Parañaque City.
Smarting from a 19-point blowout loss to Colegio de San Lorenzo last week, the well-rested Blue Dragons collide with the Gold Gears at 2 p.m.
Diliman College coach Rensy Bajar is confident his wards have made the adjustments during a week-long respite as they try to keep CdSL and defending champion Centro Escolar University, which are both unbeaten so far, within their sight.
“We’re coming off a week-long break and that’s enough for them to ponder what went wrong the last time out and make the necessary adjustments,” he said.
The Gold Gears, in contrast, are racing against time to rediscover their groove after they dropped their last two assignments, the last a 79-68 setback to the Rod Ebondo-less Scorpions last Thursday.
Blue Dragons top center Adama Diakhite is tipped to lord it over against the relatively small Gold Gears frontcourt while local teammates Joseph Brutas, Rey Bauzon and comebacking Rickson Gerero are expected to provide the needed support.
Clashing in the opener set at 12 noon are host Sea Lions and the free-falling University of Batangas Brahmans.
Olivarez College, last year’s bridesmaid finisher, is eager to score a strong follow-up to its 95-77 victory against newcomer Lyceum-Batangas exactly a week ago that stopped a two-game losing skid.
Pruvil Bermudes, Richmon Sunga and Dwight Saguiguit should lead the Sea Lions’ attack anew against the struggling Brahmans who are aiming to to finally nail an elusive victory on their fourth try.
