Games Thursday (Olivarez gym, Parañaque City): 12 noon – PCU-D vs CEU; 2 p.m. – Olivarez vs TIP; 4 p.m. – Diliman vs LPU-B
REIGNING titlist Diliman College goes for its sixth straight win on Thursday while Centro Escolar University hopes to sustain its charge in the PG Flex Linoleum-Universities and Colleges Basketball League at the Olivarez College gym in Parañaque City.
The DC Blue Dragons collide with Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas at 4 p.m. with the former likely to use their 90-62 win over the then undermanned Scorpions exactly a week ago as an added inspiration in their bid to win the first-round pennant.
Expected to lead the Blue Dragons are Robbie Darang, Johnnel Rey Bauzon, Kevine Steeve Gandjeto of Benin and Senegalese Abdoulaye Niang, who all scored in double figures with Darang finishing with 23 points spiked by three triples.
The Scorpions, on the other hand, tangle with the Philippine Christian University-Dasmariñas at 12 noon while host Olivarez College hopes to end its first-round campaign with a bang when it tackles Technological Institute of the Philippines at 2 p.m.
Matches will be shown on Solar Sports from 6 to 8 p.m.
The Scorpions showed how potent they are when they play in full force as they demolished the Engineers, 85-68, in a win that ended a two-game losing run – a stretch where they endured a tight six-man rotation.
Out to lead the multi-titled CEU squad are Franz Diaz, Eric Gabrielle Tuadles, John Carandang and Maodo Diouf.
Olivarez is fresh from a 116-68 demolition of National College of Business and Arts – its most lopsided win in four years – thanks to the 30-point performance of the 6-foot-4 Jayboy Solis.
