Games Thursday (Olivarez College gym): 12 noon – NCBA vs CEU; 2 p.m. – Olivarez vs Lyceum-B; 4 p.m. – TIP vs Diliman
DEFENDING champion Diliman College and Centro Escolar University hope to forge a four-way tie for the early when they go up against separate rivals on Thursday in the PG Flex Linoleum-Universities and Colleges Basketball League at the Olivarez College gym in Parañaque City.
The Diliman Blue Dragons collide with the Technological Institute of the Philippines Engineers at 4 p.m. while the CEU Scorpions take on the National College of Business and Arts Wildcats in the opener of the three-game bill at 12 noon.
Both the Blue Dragons and Scorpions are coming off inspiring wins and another victory would put them on level with the University of Batangas Brahmans.
Also going for a second straight win is Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas which faces Olivarez College at 2 p.m. in the eight-team tournament now on its fourth season.
Diliman’s Johnnel Rey Bauzon will be a marked man in the match after exploding for 29 points in the team’s runaway 97-69 win over the Dolphins last Monday.
The Scorpions, on the other hand, unveiled a new star from the south in Eric Gabrielle Tuadles, who banged in 23 points spiked by six triples in their 89-69 rout of the Olivares Sea Lions in the opener last week.
Expected to lead the LPU Pirates are wily guard AA Lapasaran and Congolese center Arsene Mulunda, who registered huge numbers in their easy 88-62 win over the Wildcats of Jake Codamon.
In that win, the 5-foot-10 Lapasaran tallied 24 points, 9 assists and five boards while the 6-foot-6 Mulunda produced a double-double of 12 points and 15 boards.
