DILIMAN College overcame Bulacan State University, 84-79, on Monday to pick up its first win in the 2017 Republica Cup collegiate basketball tournament at the Malolos Sports and Convention Center.
Adama Diakhite finished with 32 points, while Rickson Guerrero finished with 22 points for the Blue Dragons, who won their first game after two outings.
Diakhite dominated the paint as he scored 14 of the team’s 26 points in the final canto to overcame a tough challenge from the Gold Gears.
Joseph Brutas contributed 13 points for the Rensy Bajar-coached squad in the tournament honoring the historic Malolos Republic.
Kenneth Reyes added 29 points for the Gold Gears, who dropped to 0-2 in the elimination phase of the tournament.
