CEU ousted Adamson despite the twice-to-beat edge of the Lady Falcons, thanks to Mary Ann Doloue.

CENTRO Escolar University got a big lift from Mary Ann Doloue in the payoff period to defeat twice-to-beat Adamson, 69-61, in their rubber match for the last semis berth in the Smart-PCABL (Pilipinas Chinese Amateur Basketball League) Dickies Women’s Cup on Wednesday at the Buddhacare gym in Manila.

Doloue bounced back from being scoreless in the middle quarters to drop 11 points in the last 10 minutes to singlehandedly repel Adamson’s repeated rallies and lead the Lady Scorpions to earn the right of facing UAAP champion and top seed National University in the semis slated Sunday.

Doloue finished with 16 points along with eight rebounds and two assists to clinch another Dickies Player of the Game award in the tournament also sponsored by Advanced Solution Inc., Powerhouse, CW Home Depot, Dickies Underwear, Hapee Toothpaste and Jumbo Plastic Linoleum.

The Lady Scorpions forced a knockout match with the No. 4 Lady Falcons by scoring a 64-51 win on Sunday. The four teams after single-round elims gained twice-to-beat privileges over the quarterfinal rivals.
