THE DG Sports Basketball League plays its semifinal and final phase this weekend with Regent, Pinoy Youth Dreamers-Dolphins, Aqua Safe, and Jaman vying for the crown.
The four teams made it to the semifinals after 10 games, with Regent earning the right to face Jaman, and the Dolphins squaring off with Aqua Safe in the knockout semifinal round on Saturday.
Semis survivors will play for the title on Sunday at the Valle Verde 3 court in Pasig City.
Regent, Dolphins, and Aqua Safe ended up tied at the end of the eliminations with identical 6-4 records, but finished 1-2-3 entering the semis as per the quotient system.
Jaman took the fourth and last semis berth.
Bread Story and PP Bus Line are the other two teams which saw action.
The tournament is for players born 2003 and after, and is supported by DG Sports of owner Jon Estecomen and World Balance.
“We used a different format for a more balanced competition as prior to the tournament, we had a month of classification of skills for all players we divide them equally in each team,” said organizer Beaujing Acot of Pinoy Youth Dreamers.
A Mythical Five for players born 2003 to 2004, and born 2005 and up will be named after the championship game.
There will also be two Most Valuable Players in the tournament.
