DEMARCUS Cousins is expected to arrive in Manila on Wednesday to participate in Strong Group Athletics (SGA) practice, as they build up for the Dubai International Basketball Championship.
“He should be here by tomorrow (Wednesday). He’ll join sa practice,” SGA coach Charles Tiu revealed on Tuesday night. “He had some commitments also in the US, so we let him do that first.”
Cousins is reinforcing SGA for the Dubai tourney. He had a 12-year NBA career, most notably with the Sacramento Kings from 2010 to 2017. Recently, had been playing outside the US and recently signed with Selenge Bodons in Mongolia.
Tiu said the arrival of Cousins will be make it possible to finally create cohesion with the players that are already in the country such as Andray Blatche, Rhenz Abando, Dave Ildefonso, and Ange Kouame.

“They’re working hard. Not yet in great shape right now, to be honest. We’re still lacking some bigs. Hopefully, with the addition of DeMarcus, that will change things. The guys are a bit banged up. Blatche is a bit sore, and Ange is also sore because he’s back in force in the EASL. But the other guys have been ok,” said Tiu.
SGA is looking at capturing the Dubai International Basketball Championship after losing to Middle East powerhouse Al Riyadi last year on a game-winner by Lebanon national team player Wael Arakji.
