DANNY Seigle showed he still has hops despite being retired from the game.
The 43-year-old Seigle executed a highlight play during a recent UNTV Cup PBA Legends Faceoff when he pulled off a dunk in San Miguel’s win against Ginebra, 135-107.
Seigle’s former San Miguel teammate Danny Ildefonso said he is no longer surprised with Seigle’s dunk as he has been showing it in the very few practices they were in.
“Nagulat ako sa practice kasi ‘yung practice bago kami naglaro, talagang dumadunk siya,” said Ildefonso, now an assistant coach of Alaska in the PBA.
Ildefonso admitted he can still dunk, but not the way Seigle can.
“Seasonal na lang ako pero hindi katulad sa kanya na dalawang kamay. Gifted talaga,” Ildefonso said.
Seigle had 14 points for the Beermen in that game against the Gin Kings, his first match for the Legends Faceoff tournament. Ildefonso said Seigle could be playing again for San Miguel in their semifinal match against Purefoods on Sunday, 1:30 p.m. at the Pasig Sports Center.
The Beermen swept the elimination round of the competition.
Ildefonso said it has been his teammates’ shape as well as the uncanny three-point shooting of Allan Caidic that has been bringing the Beermen to the top spot in the legends tournament.
“Mga kundisyon ‘yung mga kasama ko eh, sila Kiko Adriano. Tapos shooter pa rin si Triggerman tapos may (Olsen) Racela ka pa doon. Tapos medyo kumpleto kami. Wala kaming ensayo pero ‘yung mga iba, regular sa practice dahil kasama sila sa MPBL,” said Ildefonso.
As for the 42-year-old, Ildefonso said: “Wala akong laro pero more on gym ako, nagwowork out ako. Pero sila kundisyon.”
