SAN Miguel remained unbeaten in the UNTV Cup PBA Legends Faceoff after defeating Alaska, 76-61, on Sunday at Pasig City Sports Center.
The Beermen weren't able to practice the whole week but still proved too strong for the Aces as Danny Ildefonso led a balanced offensive.
Ildefonso led the way with 16 points on 8-of-10 shooting and added six rebounds, two assists and a steal in the Beermen's second win in as many games.
Allan Caidic added 15 markers built on five three-pointers. Kiko Adriano chipped in 14 points and Dondon Hontiveros added 13.
“Doon mo makikita siguro ‘yung experience ng team na if you’re down or even if you’re leading nakakapag-adjust kaagad,” said Caidic.
“So I’m thankful na naging maganda ang depensa namin and down the stretch nagpakawala kami ng crucial baskets.”
Alaska threatened at 52-61 after trailing by as much as 15 points, 46-61, halfway through the fourth quarter but Adriano sank a trey to stem the Aces' momentum.
Caidic buried back-to-back triples and Hontiveros joined the party to seal the victory for SMB.
“Lahat naman kami pare-parehas nang pagod, so kapag may opportunity na ma-open ka talagang we’ll take it so luckily pumapasok,” said Caidic.
Kenneth Duremdes scored 12 points while Willie Miller added 10 markers for the Milkmen, who suffered their first loss after an opening win over Ginebra, 90-83.
