THANKS to a suffocating defense, Zark's Burger Lyceum rolled to its fifth straight win after blasting Mila's Lechon, 102-55, in the PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup on Thursday at the Pasig City Sports Center.
Mike Nzeusseu pumped in 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Jawbreakers, who now hold a 5-1 win-loss record.
Kim Cinco and Jaycee Marcelino had 12 points each. CJ Perez and Jayvee Marcelino combined for 17 markers.
After a nip-and-tuck first half, the Jawbreakers turned up the defensive intensity in the third period as they limited the Mighty Roasters to just eight points, 73-47.
Mila's Lechon hardly recovered from there and absorbed their fourth loss in as many games in the process.
After staying within striking distance for the first two quarters, the Mighty Roasters struggled to find their mark and scored just 16 points in the second half.
Despite that, Zark's Burger head coach Topex Robinson expressed dissatisfaction over his team’s sluggish start.
"We don't have control on how they play. I was mad at the start because were playing to their brand of basketball," Robinson said.
"I called two early timeouts to make sure we're in the right frame of mind. If the opportunity is there to score, well keep on scoring."
Ken Acibar paced Mila's Lechon with game-high 16 points.
