JETT Vidal hit four triples in the fourth quarter to lead Zambales M-Builders to a stirring comeback over Derulo Accelero, 79-73, on Thursday in an auspicious debut for the newcomer in the PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena.

Mike Tolomia also put the finishing touches to the M-Builders victory as they came back from an eight-point deficit in the final quarter.

Vidal finished with 21 points, while hitting all his triples in a searing 18-6 blast that also included a 12-0 surge after trailing 56-64 with six minutes remaining in the game.

After Jul-Ashri Ignacio hit another triple after a Vidal conversion to take a 74-70 lead, Tolomia scored a lay-up and dishing an assist to Marlon Gomez for a three-point play to settle the final tally.

It was a sorry loss for the debuting Derulo Accelero, which has a school tie-up with University of the Philippines for this conference.

“Team effort ’yung nangyari,” said Zambales coach Junel Mendiola. “Hindi individuals kaya nakuha namin ’yung laro.”

Vidal led Zambales’ comeback with 12 of the team's 26 points in the fourth.

“Actually, pinabigay na namin sa kanya kasi mainit siya. Naka-zone sila kaya sabi ko sa kanya, take the shot lang,” said Mendiola.

Raul Soyud had 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Oilers. Henri Asilum added 15 markers on 4-of-6 from beyond-the-arc.

    The scores:

    Zambales (79) – Vidal 21, Tolomia 20, Cruz 10, Gomez 8, Alabanza 6, Ignacio 5, Mendoza 4, Pogoy 3, Maniago 2, Saret 0, Wong 0.

    Derulo Accelero (73) – Soyud 17, Asilum 15, Manuel 13, Jeffries 11, Importante 7, Corpuz 5, Bautista 3, Gingerich 2, Juruena 0, Morillo 0.

    Quarterscores: 16-19; 34-31; 53-54; 79-73.
