YONG Garcia is making a comeback in the PBA D-League after being appointed the new head coach of Marinerong Pilipino starting in the Aspirants’ Cup.
Garcia was formerly the head coach of Centro Escolar University in the UCBL and PBA D-League before being appointed to the same post with Marinerong Pilipino, where he will be replacing Koy Banal.
Under his tenure, Garcia led the Scorpions to the title in the inaugural season of the UCBL. CEU also finished second in the 2017 D-League Foundation Cup under his watch.
“Masaya na makakabalik na sa D-League. At the same time, pressured kasi maganda ang naging performance ng Marinero sa past conferences,” said Garcia, who is also an assistant coach at San Juan in the MPBL.
Garcia's mission is to help the Skippers go all the way after finishing in the top three in two conferences in the developmental league last season.
Garcia said he has started holding tryouts at the AMOSUP-JSU gym in J. Nakpil, Manila.
