BORACAY Rum scored its third straight win and stretched Hog’s Breath Café’s losing run to three with a 91-67 victory on Monday in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Arellano gym.
The Waves improved to an even 5-5 win-loss record after going on a 10-0 blast in the first quarter. The Waves ended the first quarter with a 16-1 tear to post a 26-13 lead and never let up.
Chris Banchero finished with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists for the Waves, which remained in position for a berth in the playoffs.
“’Yun ang in-emphasize ko, must win kami pero wala rin naman kaming katiyakan. Sabi ko nga, we are just trying to win as many games as we can and hope for the best,” said Boracay Rum coach Lawrence Chongson.
“Ang importante ’yung tinatakbo ng team. We are starting to jell and they are starting to embrace the system. Hopefully, we could get some more wins,” Chongson said.
Jeff Viernes chipped in 14 points, Mark Belo added 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Roider Cabrera and Stephen Siruma had 12 and 10 points respectively for Boracay Rum.
The Razorbacks continued to struggle, dropping to a 7-3 win-loss slate.
