WANGS erased a 10-point deficit and beat Centro Escolar University, 88-87, in their PBA D-League Foundation Cup opener on Tuesday at the JCSGO Gym in Cubao.
Michael Juico scored 26 points, including 12 in the payoff period, to go with eight rebounds and two assists.
Timothy Habelito had 12 points and Christian Chavez added 11.
The Couriers slowly trimmed an 82-72 CEU lead with four minutes to play, completing the comeback with Jason Riley's free throws in the dying seconds.
The Scorpions had a couple of chances to steal the game with 11 seconds left but Rod Ebondo's bank shot rimmed out and Mark Cruz's putback was swatted away.
"Sabi ko sa kanila defense lang talaga, wag tayo tumigil," said Wangs coach Pablo Lucas when asked what sparked the furious comeback.
"Nag-work din plano namin kay Ebondo. Double kami sa kanya once na nakateceive sya sa ilalim. Good thing yung mga bata sumunod, sabik sa panalo e," he added.
Ebondo had 27 points, 20 rebounds and blocked four shots.
JK Casiño had 17 markers.
