BJ Andrade waxed hot in the third frame as Cignal-Ateneo dealt Petron-Letran an 83-64 beating on Thursday in the 2019 PBA D-League at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
The third-year guard fired 10 of his 13 points in the third quarter, helping the Blue Eagles break free from a tight 36-35 halftime count and erect a 63-54 lead.
Cignal-Ateneo never let up from there and posteda lead as big as 20, 82-62.
Mike Nieto added 12 points and two rebounds, Matthew Daves had 10 points and nine boards, and Ivorian big man Ange Kouame had 10 points and 11 rebounds despite battling foul trouble.
"Our discipline wasn't good in the first half and that's not the right recipe to play successful basketball," said coach Tab Baldwin. "But sorted some things out. BJ, Mike, and Matt (Nieto) hit some shots out and that got us in the right track.
"We did what we have to do."
The Blue Eagles won back-to-back games to claim solo third place in the Aspirants Group at 4-1.
Jerrick Balanza led the Knights with 16 points, four rebounds, and two assists, as Alvin Pasaol contributed 15 points and eight rebounds.
Jeo Ambohot chipped in 10 points and six boards in the defeat, which halted the Knights' three-game win streak and pulled them down to 3-2.
