TANDUAY has finally signed up Jom Sollano, but decided not to include Monbert Arong in its line-up for the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup.

Head coach Lawrence Chongson said a stalemate with Sollano ended after the Rhum Masters’ second pick overall in the recent PBA D-League draft finally showed up in practice recently before he formally signed a contract with the team.

Chongson was earlier concerned about the status of their top two draft picks after Sollano and Arong failed to show up for a lengthy period of time since they were drafted last December 20 by the Rhum Masters.

The two eventually showed up, but Tanduay chose not include Arong in the roster even though he already appeared in practice with the Rhum Masters.

Chongson admitted that team had to choose between Arong and 6-foot-6 ex-pro Angelus Raymundo for the final spot, but the Rhum Masters coach opted to go with height and cited Arong's late appearance as another factor behind the decision.

“Si Sollano, okay na. Nakapirma na at nag-eensayo na. Si Arong, hindi ko na nai-lineup dahil late na siya dumating at nakumpleto ko na ‘yung lineup,” said Chongson.

“It was a last minute choice between him and Raymundo and I deemed that we lack height more. And ‘yung kicker was Arong showed up late na rin,” he added.

Chongson hopes Sollano, a product of Letran, could turn out to be a gem for Tanduay.

“I’ve said it na ‘yung draft process was a ‘Jeron Teng’ lottery and I settled for a team need. Hopefully, Jom turns out to be a sleeper for us going forward,” said Chongson.
