TANDUAY Rhum Masters made quick work of Topstar ZC Mindanao Aguilas, 133-78, in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City on Tuesday.
Reden Celda topscored for Tanduay with 20 points, while Gelo Alolino and Kim Lo had 17 apiece.
The Rhum Masters bounced back from a 108-95 loss to league-leader Phoenix and improved to a 6-3 win-loss record. But despite the romp, Tanduay coach Lawrence Chongson was particularly miffed with his wards’ lethargic start especially on defense.
"Actually hindi ako satisfied sa (laro namin nung) first half because we allowed them to score 48 points. Pinagalitan ko sila nung halftime," said Chongson.
Tanduay then went on to break the game wide open in the third, led by Lo, Celda, Alolino and Val Acuña. And they also clamped down on defense, limiting the Aguilas to just 12 in the third and 30 for the entire second half.
JR Cawaling had 21 points while Dexter Garcia added 18 for the Aguilas, who remained winless in eight outings.
