TANDUAY outclassed Blustar Detergent, 94-71, on Monday to claim its second win in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the JCSGO gym.
The Rhum Masters scored 23 unanswered points to wallop the debuting Blustar squad that is composed of the Malaysian players in the KL Dragons squad that won the Asean Basketball League crown in the 2015-2016 season.
Val Acuna had 12 of his 14 points in the first quarter for the Rhum Masters, who improved to 2-1.
Tanduay coach Lawrence Chongson is careful not to be carried away by the win after leading by as many as 36 points.
“Let’s put everything in proper perspective. Maybe lang naman, itong team na ‘to, against the heavyweights of the PBA D-League, baka ganun din ang kalabasan. Baka mas masahol pa.
“Not to undermine the Dragons, baka hindi pa familiar, nag-aadjust sa professional rules, namamalahibo lang,” said Chongson.
Kuck Tian Yuan had 23 points to lead the way for the Dragons, who played without Juami Tiongson due to an injury.
