GELO Alolino scored 25 points as Tanduay edged Blustar, 105-102, on Tuesday night in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
Alolino also had four rebounds and six assists, while Jaypee Belencion had 20 points, four rebounds, and two assists as the Rhum Masters scored their fourth win in six games, while the Dragons fell to 1-5.
Tanduay missed free throws late in regulation, allowing the Dragons to fight back with Juami Tiongson hitting a triple that sent the game into overtime.
Tanduay coach Lawrence Chongson praised Blustar for playing well and giving his wards some things to ponder.
“Siguro tumatagal na din sila dito, ’yung last few games nila dikit na din… Nakaka-adapt na din,” Chongson said.
“Sana ‘yung mga ganitong klaseng mga games makapulot kami ng aral. I doubt six games could be a gauge, para pagaadapt, para sa chemistry. Hopefully, this game will toughen us,” Chongson added.
Ivan Yeo gave Blu Star a double-double performance of 27 points and 22 rebounds, Tiongson added 18 points, and Tian Yuan Kuek with 16 points.
The Rhum Masters will play the Mindanao Aguilas on Thursday while the Dragons are set to return to Malaysia for a two-week break before getting back in action on July 14 against CafeFrance.
