ST. Clare College Virtual Reality halted its two-game skid in the 2019 PBA D-League with a 93-82 walloping of McDavid Thursday at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
Mohammed Pare and Darwin Lunor conspired in the Saints' 34-point second quarter eruption that turned a 26-25 deficit to a commanding 59-44 lead.
That opened the floodgates for St. Clare as it went on and extended the lead to as high as 23 points, 70-47, after a Junjie Hallare fadeaway midway through the third period.
Lunor uncorked 13 of his 19 points in that second frame, to go with his 11 rebounds, as Malian big man Pare topped the Saints with 22 points on top of 10 rebounds and three blocks.
Hallare also got 13 points and made nine rebounds as St. Clare bounced back from its controversial 91-90 defeat to Petron-Letran last week.
The win boosted the Saints' playoff bid as they sit at fourth with their 5-2 card in the Aspirants Group.
"Kami naman, itutuloy lang namin ang trabaho namin dahil hindi pa kami sigurado sa next round. Marami pang pwedeng mangyari," said coach Jinino Manansala as he has his eyes geared towards advancing to the playoffs.
McDavid, on the other hand, continued its downward spiral with this third straight defeat to remain at the bottom with a 1-7 record.
New recruit Ryusei Koga led McDavid with 19 points, while Harold Arboleda missed out on a triple-double with his 16 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists.
