St. Clare pounces on shorthanded CEU to force semis decider

Mohammed Pare leads attack as Saints thump Scorpions

ST. Clare College Virtual Reality whipped an undermanned Centro Escolar University, 84-50, to force a winner-take-all Game Three in the 2019 PBA D-League semifinals Thursday at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Malian bruiser Mohammed Pare led the mauling as the Saints were quick to assert control in the game, taking a 23-point lead, 32-9, as the deficit continued to grow to as much as 34, 82-48, late in the game.

Pare pumped 17 points, 15 rebounds, and four blocks in the St. Clare victory, while Darwin Lunor recorded a double-double with his 14 points and 11 rebounds off the bench.

Junjie Hallare and Joshua Fontanilla both scored 11 points apiece in the rout.

St. Clare and CEU face off for the last time on Tuesday, 4 p.m., with Game Three still at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig and the winner facing Cignal-Ateneo in the Finals.

"Ang focus ko is Game Three na eh. Alam ko na amin na eh kaya maga-adjust kami sa kung anong pwede pang mai-adjust," said Saints coach Jinino Manansala.

Franz Diaz carried the Scorpions with 17 points, while Kurt Sunga got 14 points and seven rebounds.

Senegalese big man Maodo Malick Diouf was held to just seven points, 22 boards, and two rejections in the defeat.
