UNIVERSITY of Sto. Tomas started its 2019 PBA D-League campaign with a 94-70 victory over Batangas-EAC on Monday at Paco Arena in Manila.

Beninese forward Soulemane Chabi Yo had 19 points, 11 rebounds and two rejections for UST.

Rhanz Abando also poured in 17 points, nine boards, two dimes, a steal and a block as he led the Growling Tigers' quick 10-0 start that set the pace for the 24-point rout.

Eighteen-year-old guard Mark Nonoy lit up for 15 points, five rebounds, two assists and one steal as he showed tremendous poise despite being the youngest player to ever suit up in the developmental ranks.

Brent Paraiso completed the quality quartet for UST with eight points, six rebounds and five assists, much to the delight of coach Aldin Ayo.

"Masaya kami kasi nakapaglaro agad ng maayos yung mga bago. Nakapag-adjust sila agad," he said. "Unang liga namin ito na big league. Masaya naman ako na hindi kami masyadong tight and nailabas nila yung laro nila. Yun lang naman, gusto lang namin na mailabas yung pineprepare namin."
