SIMON Camacho converted a three-point play with 10.9 seconds left as Akari-Adamson stunned Marinerong Pilipino, 80-75, on Thursday in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

The Falcons kept the game close before forcing a turnover late in the game that led to Camacho’s heroics, shocking the Skippers team that’s considered one of the title contenders this conference.

It was a rousing debut for Akari, which fielded the Adamson squad in preparation for UAAP Season 81.

Akari-Adamson coach Franz Pumaren played down the win against one of the top teams this conference.

“Basically, that’s why we were down the whole time because we were not playing what we are supposed to be doing defensively and offensively. I guess that’s the sign of starting late. We still have a lot of things to do,” said Pumaren.

Jerrick Ahanmisi led all scorers with 23 points, including 11 in the third quarter to help the Falcons keep the game close entering the final canto.
