ROOSEVELT Adams powered Go for Gold-CSB to a big 107-87 stunner over Petron-Letran on Thursday to extend its win streak to three in the 2019 PBA D-League at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
The Fil-Am sniper shot 6-of-9 from threes, finishing with 29 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks to sustain the Scratchers' ascent in the Aspirants Group as they now sit at a 4-3 record.
Adams was hot off the gates, firing 14 in the first half alone to guide his side to a 27-8 opener, before putting the game under wraps as he scored nine of the last 15 points to finally shut the door on the Knights.
"This is what I expect from him. This is the reason why I got him," said Go for Gold-CSB coach Charles Tiu of Adams as he picked up the slack for the absent main guys in Justin Gutang and Kendrix Belgica.
"We're injured a lot, we're depleted, and we were worried, but he showed up today."
Unique Naboa added 20 points, seven assists and five rebounds, as Yankie Haruna and Clement Leutcheu both scored 14.
Petron-Letran threatened to make a comeback from a 29-point deficit in the third frame, 64-35, and got to as close as nine, 92-81, in the final 3:50. That's when Adams saved the day for Go for Gold-CSB scoring nine straight points that made it a 101-84 affair in the last 1:50.
The Knights shot themselves in the foot, missing 22 free throws from their 40 attempts and turning the ball over 22 times as they slid to a 5-3 card.
Jeo Ambohot led Petron-Letran in the defeat with 22 points and 16 rebounds, as Jerrick Balanza got 15 and five.
