SAN Beda clinched a semifinal berth in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup after a 65-56 win over University of the Philippines on Wednesday in San Juan.
Robert Bolick took charge in the third quarter and finished with 17 points, four rebounds, eight assists, and two blocks for the Red Lions, who remained unbeaten in nine games.
Jomari Presbitero had 14 points and Arnaud Noah had 10 points and eight rebounds for San Beda.
The Red Lions will face Jose Rizal University in the semifinals on Friday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
San Beda did well in the third quarter after a tough first half that saw them take a slim 27-26 lead.
Bolick scored seven points in an 8-0 run by San Beda to take a 45-33 lead entering the fourth.
"We started to execute our plays in the second half. We just moved the ball and we were surprised we were getting open shots," said Fernandez.
UP big man Ibrahim Quattara had 22 points, 25 rebounds and three blocks but top scorer Paul Desiderio, back after missing the final game of the eliminations, was limited to five points.
Bolick was slapped with an unsportsmanlike foul with 49.2 seconds to play in the fourth for a hit on Jun Manzo, a call that Bolick and the San Beda coaching staff profusely protested.
San Beda officials insisted Bolick didn't hit Manzo.
