VICTORIA Sports finally scored its first win in the PBA D-League, beating Jose Rizal University, 76-66, on Thursday in the Aspirants' Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
Robbie Herndon starred for Victoria Sports with 22 points including a fadeaway jumper that proved to be the dagger down the stretch, putting them ahead, 74-66.
Aris Dionisio had 20 points and 13 boards to help Victoria Sports score a win after four losses.
"I just told my guys to work hard every game because every game, we're getting better. We shouldn't mind our losses. The important thing is our improvement," said coach Jino Manansala.
Jerard Bautista had 20 points for the Heavy Bombers, who have lost three straight after starting the tournament with two wins.
Teytey Teodoro chipped in 16 markers but was a non-factor in the payoff period for JRU.
