NLEX primed up for its rematch with top rival Blackwater Sports with a 93-68 beating of Café France on Monday in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the JCSGO gym in Quezon City.
Garvo Lanete, Kirk Long, and Ronald Pascual combined for 21 of NLEX’s 31 points in the third quarter to set up the runaway victory for a 7-1 win-loss card.
The Road Warriors cemented their hold of second place in the team standings with their fifth straight victory.
NLEX faces Blackwater Sports on Thursday in a rematch of the Foundation Cup finals won by the Elite.
“I’m happy that we got this win in preparation for our game against Blackwater,” said NLEX coach Boyet Fernandez. “It will be a tough match-up for us but I hope that, with how we played today, we can carry it over in the next game.”
NLEX led by 38-30 at halftime and was ahead by just five points early in the third quarter, but the Road Warriors went on a rampage and put up a 69-49 lead entering the fourth.
Lanete had 20 points, while Long added 13 points including a 3-of-4 clip from behind-the-arc. Pascual added 11 points on 3-of-5 from threes.
Café France ended its four-game winning streak to drop to sixth place with a 7-4 win-loss record.
