Rising Suns battle well-rested Giants in Aspirants Cup

    Dec 8, 2013

CAGAYAN Valley and Jumbo Plastic Linoleum try to maintain their places in the top half of the team standings when they collide on Monday in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

The Rising Suns and the Giants clash at 2 p.m., both looking to boost their chances for outright semifinal slots.

The Giants, who own a 5-1 win-loss card, are looking to extend their winning run to four when they face the Rising Suns, who have a 6-2 slate.

But Jumbo Plastic has not seen action in 10 days, a concern for head coach Stevenson Tiu.

“Long break tends to disrupt your rhythm and, at times, gets you rusty. Hopefully playing some tune up games is enough to keep us in game shape,” Tiu said.

In the first game, Café France battles Zambales M-Builders at 4 p.m.

The Bakers hope to improve on their 4-3 win-loss record against the M-Builders, still struggling at 2-5.

    Team standings: Hog’s Breath 6-0, Big Chill 6-1, Jumbo Plastic 5-1, NLEX 4-1, Cagayan Valley 6-2, Blackwater Sports 4-2, Café France 4-3, Wangs Basketball 3-4, Boracay Rum 3-5, Cebuana Lhuillier 2-4, Zambales M-Builders 2-5, Arellano-Air21 1-6, Derulo Accelero 1-7, NU-BDO 0-6.
