RACAL played with sense of urgency and ran away with a 100-90 win over Cignal on Monday in Game Two of the PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup finals at The Arena in San Juan.
With their backs against the wall, the Tile Masters leaned on Rey Nambatac, Jackson Corpuz and Kent Salado to nab the victory and force a deciding match in the best-of-three series.
Nambatac scattered 24 points, while Corpuz had 20 points and 11 rebounds.
Salado added 15 points.
Game Three is set on Thursday, 4 p.m. at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
"We really focused on the defensive assignment namin kaya maganda ang start," said Racal coach Jerry Codinera, whose team led by as many as 19 points.
Nambatac and Corpuz combined for 17 points as the Tile Masters erected a 57-42 lead at halftime.
The Hawkeyes showed resistance in the third period and moved to within six, 71-65.
But Nambatac took charge in the payoff period, dropping 10 points including the key baskets in the final stretch as the Tile Masters pulled away for good.
Robert Bolick, named MVP before the match, finished with 18 points for the Hawkeyes.
Pamboy Raymundo added 17 points, Jason Perkins scored 13 and Davon Potts added 11.
