RAYMOND Aguilar registered a double-double, highlighted by a huge triple in the endgame, as University of the Philippines-QRS/JAM Liner defeated National University-BDO, 90-85, on Thursday in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Filoil Flying V Arena.
Aguilar broke an 81-81 tie with a triple for a four-point cushion, 89-85, with 26 seconds to play.
The 30-year-old Aguilar finished with 18 points and 13 rebounds.
Paul Desiderio had 24 points, making 7-of-8 shots from beyond the arc, while Juneric Baloria had 16 points for QRS/JAM Liner, which has five Maroons in the lineup as part of a tie-up with UP.
“It was a different experience. It’s kinda hard to blend college and professional guys together because it’s a different game. My guys are used to certain things so it’s tough,” said UP-QRS/JAM Liner consultant Joe Ward.
Gelo Alolino, another former NU Bulldog, had 11 points including a triple that tied the game at 81 before Aguilar took over.
JJay Alejandro had 21 points while Pao Javelona chipped in 13 points for the Bulldogs.
